Family Karate - I CAN instead of I CAN'T
You might have heard one of the instructors snap, “Can’t, can’t. We do not use that word around here.” The reason we treat can’t like it is a four-letter word is because when you say “I can’t” it is almost guaranteed you won’t. Conversely, when you believe in yourself and when you think you can do something, usually you can and do.
One of my favorite movie lines comes from The Rookie. One of the baseball players walks into the locker room and says, “I feel like I can hit a homerun tonight.” The team’s best batter is standing there and turns to Dennis Quaid and says, “I feel like that every night.” Having a good or “can-do” attitude helps you succeed, while having an “I can’t” attitude will usually guarantee failure.
